7th/8th Grade - YEAR ART

Here are our "stone cold" faces! We preceeded this lesson with studies of realistic facial to draw eyes, nose, mouth, the division of the eyes are an "eye space" in between, the highlights found in the eye and mouth, and different shapes of the mouths and eyebrows plus the basic structure of the face. The students were required to paint realistic features on the front side of small river rocks but the flip side could be any kind of facial features they wished. Some chose cartoon faces and some chose realistic again but these other realistic features could be rotated or flipped around to make several different faces within their stones. Below are a few examples.
